One of the highlights of the event was the introduction to Japanese snacks. Students eagerly sampled a variety of traditional treats, including Pocky sticks, mochi, and senbei rice crackers. A Peek into Japanese School Life
The embassy staff brought along authentic Japanese school backpacks, known as “randoseru.” These sturdy, beautifully crafted bags are a symbol of the Japanese education system. Our students were fascinated to learn about the significance of these backpacks, which are traditionally given to children at the start of their elementary school journey and are designed to last throughout their primary school years. This glimpse into the everyday lives of Japanese students helped our own students appreciate the differences and similarities in school experiences across cultures.
